Project Overview:

Design and implementation of the Programmatic Inventory Explorer, a public-facing tool on Kayzen's website that connects to a remote global database to showcase real-time mobile advertising metrics based on user-defined criteria via custom code and wpDataTables..

Technical Stack:

WordPress (CMS), JavaScript (Custom logic for data presentation/interaction), Chart.js (Data Visualization Library), wpDataTables (Data Table Plugin), Custom Tracking Mechanism (for database querying), HTML/CSS.

Objective:

To develop a utility that provides marketers with transparent, real-time insights into mobile in-app programmatic inventory (CPM, impression volumes, unique reachable users) to expand their acquisition horizons beyond closed ecosystems.

Challenges:

  • Complex Database Querying: Developing the precise query logic to access and join multiple tables in the remote database to retrieve specific metrics.
  • Custom Charting Implementation: Overcoming the limitations of standard charting libraries by modifying Chart.js (specifically converting a Scatter Chart to function as a Line Chart) to accurately present required data records (e.g., 5% and 95% records).
  • Real-Time Responsiveness: Ensuring the entire data presentation page is mobile-optimized and updates on-the-fly as users change query parameters.

Outcome:

A successfully launched, highly functional Inventory Explorer that serves as a powerful utility for Kayzen, providing essential market transparency via advanced custom charting and tabular data displays, showcasing key metrics, and enhancing their reputation as a leader in data-driven programmatic advertising.

Key Achievements:

  • Real-Time Data Tracker: Built a custom tracking mechanism connecting the front-end page directly to a remote global database, enabling real-time data retrieval and metric updates when the user changes the query.
  • Advanced Charting & Visualization: Mastered the use of Chart.js to implement complex data visualizations, complemented by wpDataTables for robust tabular data presentation, including the successful modification of a Scatter Chart to meet specific data presentation requirements (5% and 95% records).
  • Custom Query Logic: Developed the required back-end query to efficiently access and aggregate data from multiple database tables to feed the visualization engine.
